Welcome to the General Youth Programs Page!  This is where you’ll find information on activities like Taekwondo for Kids, School Break Camps, Summer Sunshine Camp.  All youth programs can be found on this page or our Youth Sports Page, so be sure to check both for updates on all our programs for youth!

Unless otherwise noted, to register for any program listed please complete an Activity Registration Form and email it to the Parks & Recreation Department (please call to make payment by credit card) or you can print it off, sign it and mail it or drop it off along with payment (do NOT email the form to the address listed on the form.  We are having problems receiving emails to this address from some people).  You may also choose to print the form off, fill it out by hand and drop it off or mail to the Parks & Recreation Department.  If you fill it out online and email it in, you must use a digital signature to sign the form.  Just follow the instructions when you click on the signature line.  If you cannot click on the signature line and create a digital signature, try opening the document in Windows Explorer.

SUNSHINE CAMP

If you’re looking for a fun, safe place for your 5-12 year old to spend the summer, Sunshine Camp is the place to be!  Campers stay active throughout the day, utilizing all of the facilities located throughout the Woodford County Park, including the tennis courts, cross country trail, pavilions and ball fields, as well as the gymnasium and pools at Falling Springs Center!  Campers will swim daily in addition to enjoying free play and organized games, arts and crafts, field trips and much more!

Camp runs May 23 through August 10 and daily & weekly rates are available along with multi-child discounts.  Limited space is available, so register now to insure your child a spot a camp this summer!  To register, please download these 2 packets (Sunshine Policies & Information Packet and the Sunshine Camp Registration Packet).

Please complete and submit the registration packet along with a non-refundable deposit ($35 per child).  Space is limited to 200 campers, so register soon to reserve your child’s spot.  If you have questions, please contact Shannon Centers at 873-5948.   Deadline:  May 17

 

 

PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT

Enjoy an evening out while the kids have a blast!  Open to boys & girls ages 5-11.  Bring a swimsuit, towel and gym shoes, we’ll provide the food and fun!  6-10:30 PM.  $10/child (includes dinner & snack).  Contact Shannon for details or to let her know you’re coming!   Upcoming Dates:  April 21 & May 19

 

 

 

2016-2017 TAEKWONDO FOR KIDS – CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE

Taekwondo builds self-esteem, mental discipline, a strong body & more!  Classes meet for 6 weeks on the days listed in the table below.  A uniform required for new students ($40, payable to Martial Arts USA the first day of class).  Register soon, space is limited!  Contact Rainey with questions.

Learn to swim classes at Falling Springs are instructed by trained swim instructors and are designed to teach children how to swim, starting with getting children comfortable in the water in the water babies and water tots classes to technical strokes in the upper level classes.  This program advances children a series of levels moving from basic skills like blowing bubbles, putting their face in the water and floating on their backs to basic stroke development and treading water and then to more advanced stroke development.  When completing all levels children will be able to swim comfortably with multiple strokes, be prepared for swim team participation or simply a lifetime of fitness through swimming.

LIFEGUARD, CPR, FIRST AID & COACHES TRAINING COURSES

You never know when an emergency will arise. Maybe it will be someone you know, maybe it’s a stranger, but when that time comes, will you know what to do?

Parks & Recreation is pleased to offer a variety of Safety Courses to meet the needs of our community. From professional Lifeguard Training to lay responder courses for coaches, teachers, parents, babysitters and others, Parks & Recreation can prepare you to be prepared in an emergency!

COURSE OFFERINGS:

  • Lifeguard Certification Course (must be 15 by the last day of class) – Click here for details.
  • Coaches’ Safety Training (Ages 18 & up)
  • First Aid / CPR / AED (Ages 15 & up)
  • Wilderness First Aid (Scheduled upon request/demand)
